Temporary State Position Openings

Living Collections Temporary Animal Care Job (2 positions)

We’re looking for qualified, dependable, enthusiastic, detail-oriented people to join our animal care team. Are you interested in a career working with animals? Have you ever wanted to work at a zoo or aquarium? Are you looking for hands-on experience with arachnids, insects, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds, or freshwater and marine fish? Join us in Living Collections. We care for a diverse collection (more than 150 species) of live animals in a Museum setting in downtown Raleigh.

We have temporary positions available now in two areas: Reptiles, Amphibians, and Ambassador Animals (hiring manager Rachel Myers, rachel.myers@ngskmc-eis.net), and the Living Conservatory and Arthropod Zoo (hiring manager Andy Kauffman, andy.kauffman@ngskmc-eis.net).

About the positions:
  • Full-time temporary via Temporary Solutions
  • Position works regular weekends and occasional holidays.
  • Pay $16 to $17/hour.

Non-State Position Openings

Senior Development Officer, Friends of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences

The NC Museum of Natural Sciences seeks an experienced individual to join the Development Team. The Senior Development Officer will be responsible for securing the financial resources necessary for the Museum to fulfill its mission and achieve its goals. This position requires a combination of strategic thinking, relationship-building skills, a deep understanding of fundraising techniques and a record of successfully closing major gifts.

Reporting to the Director of Development for Friends of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, this is a permanent full-time position with the nonprofit Friends of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences for 40 hours/week.

Naturalist Center Part Time Positions

The Naturalist Center at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences is seeking individuals who are passionate about science and nature to join our team! We are filling part-time positions which require an interest in science communication and the ability to interact enthusiastically with visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

Location: Naturalist Center, North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Downtown Raleigh.

Work Schedule: Position requires working a minimum of 2 weekends per month and on some holidays. Weekday availability encouraged. Naturalist Center hours are 10:30am–4:30pm, Tuesday–Sunday.

Pay: $16.00/ hour.

Summer Camp Employment

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences (NCMNS) in Raleigh is now hiring enthusiastic staff for its 2024 Summer Camps! The Museum offers week-long, hands-on science day camps for children in rising kindergarten through twelfth grades. Camps run June 24 through August 9.
